The Academic Team from the Department of Human Resource Management at the University of Colombo visited the Department of Human Resource Management on January 21, 2025. The program aimed to foster research collaboration and joint initiatives related to student education, International HR Day, case competitions, and other academic activities. Four academics from the University of Colombo participated in discussions to strengthen and extend the long-term collaboration with the Department of Human Resource Management. This partnership primarily focuses on the following key areas:
- Research collaboration: Conduct joint research projects on contemporary HRM issues, particularly in the sustainable Silver economy in Sri Lanka, publish collaborative research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and secure research grants and funding for HRM-related research.
- Faculty and student exchange programs: Facilitate faculty exchange for knowledge-sharing, guest lectures, and outbound training. Through exchange programs, students are exposed to different HRM practices and academic environments.
- Joint Workshops, Conferences, competitions, and Seminars: Organize annual HRM research symposiums, workshops, and guest lectures featuring experts from academia and industry, and conduct faculty development programs to enhance teaching and research capabilities and for HR day case study competition.
- Industry Collaboration and Internship Programs: Establish partnerships with industry leaders who are already connected with the University of Colombo to provide internship opportunities for students and bridge the gap between academia and industry by working on real-world HR challenges.
